Jeff
Jeff Merkel – Filling in for Scott Weigel on lead bass guitar, Jeff is no stranger to danger, or to the Fairlanes. Once Part of the “Dangerous Dueling Merkels”, Jeff, along with his brother Tim, were, with Robbie and Jason the original Fairlanes. (Tim only recorded on one release, and was only with the band for one tour, so upon joining the band Scott was able to pick up original member status for all intents and purposes.) Jeff is currently tied for last place as the favorite in his family among his 3 younger brothers. Although Jeff hasn’t played in a band since July of 2000, when he left the Fairlanes, he hasn’t practiced since sometime in May of 1999. Die-hard Fairlanes fans might remember him being quoted as saying “Practice, Shmactice!” and we are counting on that same attitude to get us through this tour. Jeff will be bringing a brand new SG bass on tour as well as his dislike of small dogs, jokes in the morning, and his very highly rated morning face. We are glad Jeff will get to tour with us even though he sold out and left the band a few years ago. Now, without having to have put in any “effort” at all, he is reaping the rewards of our blood, sweat, and tears. Who then, are the real suckers?
