NEWSLETER #2
Hi
everybody - So, where do we begin today????? Our new full-length
album, Welcome to Nowhere, is complete (on our end.... recording,
mixing, mastering, artwork, minor chords) and has been sent to the
shipping plant. We are very excited about it and think it came out
awesome. We hope you like it too. It will be released on March 9
on our OG (original gangsta) record label, the new untouchable Suburban
Home Records (Death Row Records Reference there). Speaking of our
album, there is a new MP3 up on MP3.com at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/206/the_fairlanes.html
of the song Standing on the Shoulders (Of Average Sized People)
from "Welcome to Nowhere". So go and hear it and see what you think
immediately!!!! To coincide with our release, we will be having
a CD release show at the Ogden Theatre in Denver. Our goal is to
have the biggest, baddest, coolest local show of the year, so come
on out and show your love for local independent rock and roll. The
roster for the release show is nothing short of amazing. Playing
with us will be one of our favorite bands, label mates and great
friends from Colorado, The Gamits. Joining in will be the very talented,
aggressive local act, Qualm. Ryan (guitar, sometimes-singer guy)
broke his collarbone and they are taking some time off until this
show so it will be great to have them back on the circuit. In addition,
there will be one more band, which has yet to be named. It will
be a surprise. So again, please come to the show, rock out and check
out our new CD and merchandise. It should be a rad show! Well, most
of you already know this but right after the release of Welcome
to Nowhere, the Fairlanes will be a full time band! That's right.
We are all quitting our jobs and hitting the road full time. We
are all very excited. So make sure and look for us to come through
your "neck of the woods". We will be touring the US from March 15
- May 5. After that, we’ll take a small break and then head over
to Europe!!! (Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, Holland, Germany
and more?) We will be away for the months of June/July. After that,
back to the US again and then who knows from there. All tour dates
will be posted on our web site as well as Suburban Home's so check
back for updates. Please come say hello to us on the road, and for
the love of God, please let us know about your town so we don’t
miss it! >From our recording session, we produced some extra tracks
and here is what will happen with them... 2 brand new songs will
be on a split 7" with the Swiss band the Latrines on Floppy Cow
records out of Switzerland. This is the same record label that is
putting out the “No-Fi” comp that Virgil at Suburban Home will distribute.
In February, we will be heading into the studio to complete 2 songs
from the Welcome to Nowhere session, and do some new ones and re-record
a few oldies for a split full length CD with the Italian band, the
Stinking Polecats on the Italian Label, Wynona Records. These releases
will both tentatively come out in April, but we’ll have them for
sure when we get back from Europe. Well keep you up to date as we
know more. In other news, Andy wore socks for, I think, 8 days strait
without washing them. He was at Rob’s house when he took his shoes
off, and nearly killed Rob and Scott. Andy tried to cover it up
with some cologne and deodorant, but it was not nearly enough. He
had some bad excuse about “a washing machine not working” and “running
out of clean socks.” Andy maintains that he is not a smelly foot
person, and we haven’t had an experience like that since. Let’s
hope for the best. Also, Jason is continuing to zone out on a regular
basis. We’ve found him drooling and muttering something about half-pound
hot dogs quite a few times lately. Scott finally took out the trash
last night AND brought in the garbage can for the first time since
August, I think. We are all happy about that. We are starting to
worry about Rob since he is going crazy booking the US tour and
we don’t think the medication he is getting is strong enough. He’s
been reportedly waking up in the middle of the night, in a cold
sweat, and calling promoters at 4 in the morning, asking about “the
show” and if they “have yak” for the band to drink “down on the
corner.” Poor Rob. Well, I guess that is it for now. Thanks for
everything. We gotta go and get Andy some fresh socks. See you at
the release show!!! -The Fairlanes Welcome to Nowhere March 9, 2001

Hi Everybody - Welcome to the first Fairlanes email
update! We'll be sending a few updates from time to time including
things you won't find on the web site! Tell your friends and family
sign up for this list. If you want to be taken off of it, just replay
and say "take me off, damn it" First of all, we have a show this
Friday at the Cat. It will be the first show at this venue and,
from what I have heard, it is a great place for the rock music.
Also, for those 21 +, you can see the bands from the bar. It starts
at 7:30 PM. Be sure to come and rock with us and, hell, invite your
friends as well. Our new album, titled Welcome to Nowhere will be
released in March on Suburban Home Records! It will have 12 new
songs. We are very happy with the outcome and hope you will be too.
We will be mixing it this upcoming weekend. Welcome to Nowhere will
be mastered towards the end of the month and shipped out to be pressed
in early January. We are working on the artwork now.... Speaking
of artwork, we will have alot of new merchandise coming out in the
next 6 months or so! We'll have sweatshirts, girlie shirts, hats
and a few new designs, which we are excited about. But beyond that,
we will need new art ideas. We have decided to have a CONTEST to
make the new Fairlanes Logo and T-shirt design. If we pick your
design, we'll send you a sweatshirt, T-shirt, and our 3 CD's as
well as tickets to our next show! So if you are a good artist or
know somebody who is, please send us fairlanes logo ideas, pictures,
marble sculptures or whatever. Even if you are a crappy artist,
we would love to see what you have done. Just scan it in and send
it to us. If you are sending a sculpture, email us and we will figure
out how to get it to us. We are not great at any of that art stuff
I don't think. I can't even write in cursive very well anymore.
I don't remember how to make a capital X or, more so, a capital
Q. Our web site http://www.thefairlanes.com is being updated regularly.
It's not quite exactly how we want it yet, but it will be spectacular
in due time. We will be putting up some lyrics and a new mp3 from
the album soon. We will also have online credit card ordering soon
where you can get all of our merchandise and other things (including
possibly a date with Robbie - although we have to work out some
details with the lawyers first - Robbie has a tendency to get a
bit intoxicated during these things...) that are fairlanes related.
Also, as usual we will be updating the news and show sections when
there is new stuff to report. In other exciting news, Jason ate
a half pound hot dog in Las Vegas a while ago. Please try to make
it to the show if you can, and say hi. We are hoping Andy "hot stuff"
Baldwin won't get sick after this, his 2nd show as the new drummer,
as we are going to bring 3 fans to "cool him down." He still denies
any connection to the "beverages" he consumed before the show. Also,
Scott "kickin' ass" Weigel is looking for personal embroidered towels
and plenty Fierce Lerry, (pronounced LER-rry) a combination of Fierce
Lime and Fierce Berry sports drink now that he is on the "front
line." As far as shows for the future we will let you know exactly
what is going on. We are planning a CD Release party show in March!
Pls. don't hesitate to tell us about your town and where you might
like to see us play. When this record hits, we want to be sure we
get through your town... - The Fairlanes -----------SHOW INFO---------------------------------------
